Aims and Objectives of PM SHRI Schools

PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) Schools aim to transform selected government schools into high-quality, inclusive, and future-ready institutions in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.


Aims of PM SHRI Schools

  1. To realise the vision of NEP 2020
    To implement NEP 2020 in its true spirit by promoting holistic, multidisciplinary, and competency-based education.

  2. To strengthen the public school system
    To enhance the quality, credibility, and attractiveness of government schools.

  3. To create model schools
    To develop PM SHRI Schools as exemplary and mentor schools for other schools.

  4. To ensure equity and inclusion
    To provide equal learning opportunities to all children, including CWSN, girls, and disadvantaged groups.

  5. To prepare future-ready learners
    To equip students with 21st-century skills, life skills, values, and ethical grounding.


Objectives of PM SHRI Schools

Academic & Pedagogical Objectives

  1. To promote competency-based learning and assessment.
  2. To encourage experiential, inquiry-based, toy-based, and joyful learning.
  3. To strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) at early grades.
  4. To integrate art, sports, culture, and vocational exposure into education.

Infrastructure & Access Objectives

  1. To provide safe, inclusive, child-friendly, and barrier-free infrastructure.
  2. To ensure access to ICT-enabled classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and play areas.

Human Resource & Leadership Objectives

  1. To build strong school leadership and professional capacity of teachers.
  2. To promote collaborative culture and continuous professional development.

Inclusivity & Well-being Objectives

  1. To ensure gender equity and inclusion of CWSN.
  2. To promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being of learners.

Governance & Community Objectives

  1. To strengthen school management, monitoring, and accountability systems.
  2. To encourage parental and community participation.
  3. To effectively utilise resources through convergence with existing schemes.
