Wular Lake (Jammu & Kashmir)

Wular Lake, located in Jammu and Kashmir, is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia.

  1. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley, near the town of Sopore.
  2. The lake is mainly fed by the Jhelum River, which flows through it.
  3. Wular Lake plays an important role in flood control by storing excess river water.
  4. It supports a rich variety of fish, aquatic plants, and migratory birds.
  5. The lake helps the local economy by providing fishing and farming activities.
  6. It is an important wetland ecosystem and helps maintain the region’s ecological balance.

Because of its large size, freshwater nature, and environmental importance, Wular Lake is considered one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes.
